HBO Game of Thrones: #SXSWesteros
At SXSW in Austin, we created an immersive experience for fans that included Ommegang beer tastings, a Throne replica photo opp, and show-themed giveaways. The centerpiece of the experience was a fully interactive sword fighting installation inspired by the character Arya’s season-long journey of becoming an assassin. To participate, fans had their portrait taken, which was then projected onto one of three large screens. Using a replica of Arya’s training sword fans try and hit targets that appear on the screen. Once hit, the targets spill artwork onto the canvas including blades, dragon claws, raven feathers and direwolf fur. As the artwork grows and becomes dense, fans reveal a portrait of themselves, made from the elements of the show.
